The Ancient Kauri Tele-Coaster
The body is a single piece of Ancient Kauri, which is the oldest known workable wood in existence. It has been carbon dated to be between 30,000 and 50,000 years old. It is finished with Polymerized Tung oil which has turned into a very warm and rich brown colour.
The neck is Maple with a maple fretboard which has been finished with Nitrocellulose Lacquer. It has a 25.50" scale length and medium frets.
The pickups are P90's made by Mike Turk in Bracebridge, ON. It is wired like a standard Tele.
The tuners are the old style Grover Locking Tuners with an 18:1 gear ratio. All accessorial hardware is chrome.
This guitar has a nice warm sound but it can still crunch it up when required. Very similar to the Mahogany Tele I built last year.
