The StratoCoaster

The body is laminated from 3 pieces of very light swamp ash and cut in the style of a Strat… but not exactly the same. It is stained with aniline dye to look similar to Gretsch Orange. I was able to match it very close to the colour sample the customer picked. 4 coats of Polymerized Tung Oil add the shine.

The neck is Maple with a Rosewood fingerboard. The headstock is similar to a Tele. It has a chucky boat profile and jumbo frets. The tuners are split shaft Ping's and the nut is custom cut from Buffalo Bone.

The bridge is a Wilkinson Tele bridge with compensated brass saddles.

The pickups were supplied by the customer. I don't know much about them except that they sound pretty good. The Tele bridge pickup is really hot and slightly microphonic… very Roy Buchanan. The mini humbucker in the neck position is a bit tame but gives a nice jazz sound.

The customer has nick-named this guitar "The Net-Caster" and came up with many of the design elements. I just made it happen.
