The Surf-Caster

I have been working on this guitar for about 2 years. I have never been able to get the finish to look right and I have tried a number of different things on it. It started out with a finish of Ford Calypso Green automotive lacquer. I got sick of the colour before I ever got around to finishing the guitar, so I stripped and repainted it a few times with different brands and colours of paint. It never looked good to me.

One day while in the hardware store I saw some of that textured spraypaint that is supposed to look like stone. I figured it should stick to anything and cover up all the other issues. Turned out not too bad, so I've decided to keep it like this.

This guitar mixes Tele with Dano in to a really cool looking instrument. The body is a solid single piece slab of Hackberry. It has a Dano neck that is Maple with a Rosewwod fretboard. It is finished with a light satin lacquerlacquer.

The tuners, bridge and pickups are all Dano parts. It is wired to a 3 way toggle switch that gives the usual Tele options. The white pearloid pickguard really tops it off.

I love the style of this guitar and will definitely be building more of this style in the future.
