Ancient Kauri BT - (3 P/U Version)

The body is made from 30,000 year old Ancient Kauri and is sort of a cross between a Tele and a Les Paul, with the front and rear contours of a Strat. I call this style the "BT" because the first 2 guitars I built in this style were Baritones.

There is a line of wild grain and bits of bark running through the body diagonally and a chunk of bark along the back edge (which has been bonded in place and hopefully stays put). I have finished it with 4 coats of Antique Oil. I haven't decided whether or not to clear coat it yet.

The neck is birdseye maple with a birdseye maple fingerboard. The headstock is similar to a Strat but with a few extra curves. It has Grover locking tuners and a bone nut

It has a Bigsby style tremolo and a roller bridge.

The 3 humbuckers were made by Mike Turk in Bracebridge, ON. and they sound great. Each pickup goes to a mini toggle (split-off-parallel) then to a master volume and tone. I have wired in a Black Ice passive overdrive chip instead of a capacitor. It doesn't really do what I was told it would do, but it does sound different.

The Strat style input jack has a built in guitar tuner from Atlantic Quality Designs.

There are a few costly extras on this guitar that I used in order to try some newer products that I didn't know much about until now. These things make this the most costly guitar I have ever built - I guess it's a good thing I made it for myself.
